Day 8 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 23, 2012
Today was one of those days which don’t go quite to plan! It wasn’t so bad in the beginning but decided to get worse as the day went on… I needed Help!! Luckily it came this evening in the form of a very helpful person, on the phone, on the other side of the world in England. Several calls later I was all sorted and things were looking up once again. I was sooo grateful for a friendly voice and great customer service, “thank you!” it made a not so good day much better!

Day 7 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 22, 2012
Sunday’s are great days for catching up on everything before the mad rush of the week begins. Today was no exception, lots of housework followed by working through my list of things to do. One of my new year’s resolutions is to try hard and finish a number of things that have been on my list since last year – whoops! Lots of these are long overdue emails, phone calls, skype sessions and writing letters – so if you haven’t heard from me in a while, sorry I’ll be in touch soon! Whenever I receive any kind of correspondence, whether it be a card in the post or a simple ‘like’ from Facebook, I’m always very grateful – It’s always great to hear from friends and family and catch up on all their news.
So today my photo is of the stamps I save off my post and send to my Aunty, which she collects for a charity. It was taken on my iPhone which I thought was rather appropriate, as it’s another great way of keeping in touch!

Day 6 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 21, 2012
Day 6 already, the time is flying past! After the indulgence of Christmas I am trying hard to be healthy through January. It’s not easy when I have boxes of chocolates, cakes and biscuits left over, all of which are just willing me to eat them! However yesterday I felt I needed to try harder on my quest, so I went shopping at our little greengrocers in Coolum, Matt’s Farm Fresh, and I stocked up on some lovely looking fruit and veg. It’s great that we have somewhere we can buy fresh produce from the local farms. So today I was really grateful as I enjoyed healthy salads for lunch and dinner, and some refreshing cool lime sodas! Looking forward to my grapefruit for breakfast tomorrow morning

Day 5 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 20, 2012
Interspersed between the rain this week, we have had some sunny spells. It goes from cool to hot almost instantly and this means humidity and lots of it, you can literally see the steam raising up from the ground, and the plants just love it. I’m sure things have doubled in size just in the last week! Our garden was no exception so with a brief break in the rain James ventured out with the mower, only to be caught in another shower 10 minutes later! To his credit though he mustered on and we have a lawn once again – hurray!
I’m grateful as I can now walk without fear of treading on anything I shouldn’t, i.e. snake or toad!

Day 4 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 19, 2012
After being cooped up at home most of the last week with a sore throat, poor Rupert (our little sausage dog) must’ve thought I’d abandoned our walks. This afternoon as we drove past the entrance to his usual beach walk at Stumers Creek he gave me a longing look with his big eyes. I wasn’t really in the mood but how could I resist that face! So we went – just on sunset the colours in the clouds and sea were lovely, we almost had the beach to ourselves, plus I sensed I could almost feel healing powers as I breathed in the sea air. It made me wonder was it me who took Rupert for a walk, or was it him who took me? Well I’m very grateful that he did!

Day 3 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 18, 2012
Whilst photographing a function this evening it was really nice to be offered the yummy nibbles each time the tray of food went past. I was pretty tired once I got home and figured the nibbles would suffice as dinner. However something was needed, but what?! Half an hour later my housemate called out to me, “would you like some apple pie?”
In an instance, I very gratefully accepted his offer. With ice cream of course!

Day 2 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 17, 2012
Well hurray it looks like I’ve managed it to day 2! I’m pleased, especially after receiving all the lovely messages from my first post yesterday.
Today was a day working from home, whilst the wild weather continued outside. With all the severe weather warnings I was pleased to be in the warmth and dry and I had thought about posting a photo of my big furry slippers for which I was very grateful at keeping my feet toasty all day. However, a photo of my first pair of glasses won over. When I had initially realised that I needed glasses last year it felt like I’d reached a milestone. It took a lot of getting used to and at first I couldn’t wear them longer than 30 seconds without feeling sick. Now, a few months on, I wear them all the time (well, most of the time!) whilst working on the computer – what a relief to know that my photos are actually in focus! So although I have started that annoying habit of losing them, I am so grateful that glasses exist. What a different world it would be if they didn’t…

Grateful Photo a Day Project
Posted on January 16, 2012
Happy 2012!
Today I decided to start a new mini project. I was reading through a magazine earlier about a lady who took photos each day for a year of something she was grateful for. This was a little bizarre because just at the weekend a friend had been telling me how she had been to a ‘grateful seminar’. I had never heard of anything like this before so to hear two different stories, both with very positive responses, in just a couple of days I decided maybe I should give it a go too. Each day it’s very hard to get caught up in the everyday routine of things so just stopping to take a minute and appreciate the small things I thought can only be a good thing to do. Now, I’m not committing to a year, but I am going to try a photo a day for a month and see how I go!
Today it has been a most grey, wet and windy day on the Sunshine Coast, a complete contrast to the heatwave we were experiencing just last week. Even so I was very grateful as it gave my plants a much needed watering which had been in short supply this year. So here is my first photo, my flowers enjoying a good old soaking! I wonder what tomorrow will bring?!

Portraits on Dicky Beach, Caloundra
Posted on November 25, 2011
Last Sunday I spent a lovely afternoon at Dicky Beach shooting a portrait session with Karen & Adam. Adam had secretly arranged this with me as a surprise for Karen after she successfully completed an eight week bootcamp!
At first they were both a little apprehensive of being in front of the camera but that soon faded away, as we enjoyed the beautiful afternoon – we had so much fun! Here are just a few of my favourite images from their session, as always there are just too many lovely ones to choose from. A BIG congrats to Karen for completing her challenge – such will power!!
It’s not too late to book yourself or someone a portrait session for Christmas; or how about a special present of one of our gift vouchers? Just give me call or drop me a line and we’ll get something organised for you, Sarah

Exciting times…
Posted on October 20, 2010
Exciting times are ahead! Just recently I’ve started working with Wild Honey Photography based in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, and specialising in family and baby portraits. To view some of my more recent work Wild Honey has a great new blog site – visit it here. I am currently in the UK to meet my triplet nephews for the first time – all very exciting also. I can’t wait to photograph them, although I’m sure this is going to be quite a challenge – watch this space! You can also join me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter!

You’re on your own with the grapefruit.
Lovely colours in the pic though.
