Day 14 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 29, 2012
Yay 2 weeks on my project, so to celebrate I have posted 2 photos (partly because I can’t choose one!). Today I had a lovely time at the Buderim Ginger Factory’s Flower & Food Show. As the name suggested I learnt lots about all kinds of plants, and of course ate, drank and bought lots of goodies made with ginger – yummy, my kind of show!
We had a guided walk around the Factory’s beautiful tropical gardens, which were looking very green and lush after all the wet weather, and came away with lots of gardening tips. Grateful for these, I left feeling very inspired and planning how I could put some of these into practice!
Day 12 – Grateful Photo a Day

I have to say not much happened today, especially in comparison to all the activities of yesterday! But it was Friday so I am always happy for Fridays! It seems the rain is to be with us for a little while longer, but as the weatherman positively pointed out at least it’s ‘warm rain’ that we are having! This is true, it is still very warm and very humid – apparently 88% here on the Sunshine Coast, 98% in Brisbane – now that’s humid! So after a lovely dinner with friends, it was just nice to watch a pleasant movie; so grateful to be able to relax in the warm and dry, and not use the brain cogs for a while (although some may say this happens quite frequently!)
Day 11 – Grateful Photo a Day!

Today was a really great day!
Two things in particular made this happen; firstly it was Australia Day so in the true Aussie spirit we celebrated by having a barbq with friends – a lot of fun, drinks, games and laughs were had all around!
Secondly, a very special book was published today, Jack’s Radio Mission. A truly amazing achievement, it was written by my very dear friend Sarah Boland, who through her own experiences with radiotherapy, decided to write a story that might help and reaasure children finding themselves having similar treatment. All profits will go towards Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research – for more information or to order a copy please go to Sarah’s blog at www.sazbol.co.uk or visit the facebook page.
I’m so very grateful of sharing wonderful times with friends.
Day 8 – Grateful Photo a Day

Today was one of those days which don’t go quite to plan! It wasn’t so bad in the beginning but decided to get worse as the day went on… I needed Help!! Luckily it came this evening in the form of a very helpful person, on the phone, on the other side of the world in England. Several calls later I was all sorted and things were looking up once again. I was sooo grateful for a friendly voice and great customer service, “thank you!” it made a not so good day much better!
Day 6 – Grateful Photo a Day

Day 6 already, the time is flying past! After the indulgence of Christmas I am trying hard to be healthy through January. It’s not easy when I have boxes of chocolates, cakes and biscuits left over, all of which are just willing me to eat them! However yesterday I felt I needed to try harder on my quest, so I went shopping at our little greengrocers in Coolum, Matt’s Farm Fresh, and I stocked up on some lovely looking fruit and veg. It’s great that we have somewhere we can buy fresh produce from the local farms. So today I was really grateful as I enjoyed healthy salads for lunch and dinner, and some refreshing cool lime sodas! Looking forward to my grapefruit for breakfast tomorrow morning
Day 5 – Grateful Photo a Day

Interspersed between the rain this week, we have had some sunny spells. It goes from cool to hot almost instantly and this means humidity and lots of it, you can literally see the steam raising up from the ground, and the plants just love it. I’m sure things have doubled in size just in the last week! Our garden was no exception so with a brief break in the rain James ventured out with the mower, only to be caught in another shower 10 minutes later! To his credit though he mustered on and we have a lawn once again – hurray!
I’m grateful as I can now walk without fear of treading on anything I shouldn’t, i.e. snake or toad!
Day 4 – Grateful Photo a Day
Posted on January 19, 2012
After being cooped up at home most of the last week with a sore throat, poor Rupert (our little sausage dog) must’ve thought I’d abandoned our walks. This afternoon as we drove past the entrance to his usual beach walk at Stumers Creek he gave me a longing look with his big eyes. I wasn’t really in the mood but how could I resist that face! So we went – just on sunset the colours in the clouds and sea were lovely, we almost had the beach to ourselves, plus I sensed I could almost feel healing powers as I breathed in the sea air. It made me wonder was it me who took Rupert for a walk, or was it him who took me? Well I’m very grateful that he did!
Day 3 – Grateful Photo a Day

Whilst photographing a function this evening it was really nice to be offered the yummy nibbles each time the tray of food went past. I was pretty tired once I got home and figured the nibbles would suffice as dinner. However something was needed, but what?! Half an hour later my housemate called out to me, “would you like some apple pie?”
In an instance, I very gratefully accepted his offer. With ice cream of course!
Grateful Photo a Day Project

Happy 2012!
Today I decided to start a new mini project. I was reading through a magazine earlier about a lady who took photos each day for a year of something she was grateful for. This was a little bizarre because just at the weekend a friend had been telling me how she had been to a ‘grateful seminar’. I had never heard of anything like this before so to hear two different stories, both with very positive responses, in just a couple of days I decided maybe I should give it a go too. Each day it’s very hard to get caught up in the everyday routine of things so just stopping to take a minute and appreciate the small things I thought can only be a good thing to do. Now, I’m not committing to a year, but I am going to try a photo a day for a month and see how I go!
Today it has been a most grey, wet and windy day on the Sunshine Coast, a complete contrast to the heatwave we were experiencing just last week. Even so I was very grateful as it gave my plants a much needed watering which had been in short supply this year. So here is my first photo, my flowers enjoying a good old soaking! I wonder what tomorrow will bring?!
